“Do something”
Life owes you only what you demand from it with your actions and faith
The law to life says that it will only pay you the price that you demand from it via the decisions you choose to make and the steps you choose to take.
A large part of your life is undecided as far as to what course you will follow, life awaits for you to choose the level of journey that you will experience through the quality of the actions you decide to take.
That’s not to say that I don’t believe in destiny or the sovereignty of God in all things. I believe in these truths emphatically, its just that if you take a truth to an extreme you will eventually have an lie.
The best way for me to describe my perspective is via an analogy of a massive cruise ship.
Our lives are represented by the ship, the ocean is time and the ultimate destination of the ship is our eternal destiny. The captain of the ship is God , He has the command of the ship so far as to leading us towards our eternal destiny. Our part has to do with what level of the ship we will choose to spend our time on. We can choose to take no real initiative in anything and spend our journey confined to one of the lower cabins of the boat living on bread and water confined to a 2 meter by 3 meter room or we can choose something better for ourselves and make some decisions and take some action and live up on the deck enjoying the panoramic views of the ocean called life, swimming in the pool of adventure, whilst enjoying the company of inspiring motivated people who have also chosen to live the experience of their lives out on this level.
The reason 95% of people never go on to fulfill their dreams is not a lack of vision, plans, knowledge, money or opportunity, but simply a lack of taking action.
One of the most dangerous bad habits to fall prey to is the habit of procrastination. The word procrastination means: “to postpone doing what one should be doing”. (1)
I am a firm believer that right actions always follow right thinking. If we are going to get to doing something then we probably need to deal with how we are thinking first.
Following I have listed 3 life signs that will indicate if you are stuck in wrong thinking that leads people into the habit of procrastinating along with a success principle alongside of it to help you overcome it.
1) You are always busy, but you usually don’t go anywhere!
You are busier than you have ever been, sometimes you catch yourself even bragging about it to people, the things you are busy with you don’t really like doing and they don’t really bring anything of significance to your world, but you are scared to stop doing all of the stuff just in case you might find out that it really doesn’t mean much to your life anyway.
Success principle: Stop, step back and reevaluate.
Many years ago when I used to get bored, I would play a game that was on my computer called "spider solitaire”. I played it so much that I got pretty good at it. One of the things I would find frustrating was that sometimes I would be close to the end of the game and I would get stuck, the current cards that I had opened could not be moved any further. After a little while I discovered that you could go to the top left hand side of the screen and open the file folder and hit the "undo" button, this would reverse your last move, then I could choose an alternate card and usually finish the game.
Sometimes you just need to stop and step back from the busyness of life and take stock of what you actually value, then begin to ask yourself if you are busy giving your time and strength to the things you truly value or not and if you are not, then take action, change something, anything so that your time and strength begin to be spent on the things that truly matter to you.
2) Making decisions makes you tired!
Do you get anxious every time you need to make decisions? Would you rather avoid the issue and hope that it goes away all by itself rather than have to make a definitive choice about something? If this describes you most of the time, then I’m sorry to say that you are stuck in procrastination.
Success principle: Fix your decision trigger.
The stress of decision making can be greatly reduced if you get honest and aware about what is actually happening to you on the inside when you get to the point of having to decide on something. Many people have a faulty decision trigger because of the anxious state that they allow themselves to get into when they need to make a decision.
Nobody is 100% confident about everything they choose, there will always be that element of fear and doubt after we have made a decision for something, just learn to minimize the risks and get some knowledge and understanding on the subject. Then make your decision and reconcile that you made the best decision with the information available to you at the time. Perfection is a myth when it comes to decision making, the best decision you can make is the right one, the second best decision you can make is the wrong one and the worst decision you can make is no decision at all.
3) Tomorrow is your best friend
Have you ever heard the statement “Tomorrow never comes”, it is so true!
If on a day to day basis you catch yourself saying that you will do this or that tomorrow more than doing this right away, then you are choosing to fall into the terrible habit of procrastinating.
Success principle: Do it, delegate it or dump it.
When something comes across your world and you need to make a decision about it simply ask yourself 3 questions. Shall I do it know, should I delegate it to someone else and do I really need this thing in my life and if not Ill dump it. I guarantee you from experience that 90% of the things that come your way can be sorted via this success principle.
What are you going to demand from life via your strong decision making followed by determined action?
Do something, anything, get creative, change your steps, take a deep breath and with all the faith you can muster step out of your comfort zone and do something different.
